DJ, educator, and event curator, among other things, Frances Harris is better known around New York City as DJ Franchella. Curator of some of NYC’s most creative and highly anticipated events, DJ Franchella’s passion to promote art & culture ranks just as high with her passion to rock a party.
After moving to Bedstuy just days after graduating from UCLA, Franchella expanded her musical knowledge to the sounds of Brooklyn & uptown. Within months after moving to New York as apart of a teaching fellowship, Franchella became a DJ. A native of the west coast, caught between two generations, Franchella’smusic diversity allows her to play for any type of crowd.
From spinning at some of New York’s clubs like The Anthony, to hot spots in Europe, Puerto Rico & the Bermuda, to DJing her own curated events, Franchella is known to keep the party going and the vibes right no matter the occasion.
Franchella claim to fame includes DJing twice for the Beyhive VIP pre-party during Beyonce’s Formation Tour both stops in New York City. In addition, she toured New York City on a two decker bus as apart of New York City Health Department #SodaKills campaign bringing awareness to the diseases caused by sugar. Finally, Franchella’s work as owner of Vinyl DJ Academy has brought her the most joy as she is able to spread the DJ knowledge to the next generation.

R&B Hip-House DJ, Franchella intertwines new and old school R&B and hip-hop with house music like the best of them. A California native, the self-proclaimed “ladies night out DJ” Franchella’s sounds are sure to get all the girls dancing. A middle school teacher and gender equality activist by day, DJ Franchella‘s fan base starts as young as 10 years old as she has partnered with Girls Inc. and The Girl Scouts of the Greater New York and is dropping the first ever Girls Inc. this March. Getting her start opening up for well-known NYC DJ Trauma, DJ, Franchella has played at Greenhouse, Taj Night Club and had currently has a residency Friday night at the Cappello Lounge in West Village, New York City.
